Why we have this policy
Nevalak Foundation is run by volunteers, and AI tools can help us write, translate, summarise and organise our work. We want to use them responsibly and be open about it. This page sets out the rules we follow. The people we serve, especially children and families in Lungni, come first.
Our rules
- People stay responsible. AI only assists. A named Nevalak volunteer or board member reviews and is accountable for anything we publish, send to donors or funders, or use for financial decisions.
- Protecting personal data. We do not put names, photographs, contact details, bank details or school records of students, donors, volunteers or community members into AI tools that Nevalak has not approved. We never enter data about children into public AI tools.
- Approved tools only. The Board decides which AI tools may be used for Nevalak work. Free or personal accounts are not used for anything involving personal or financial information.
- Accuracy. We check facts, figures, names and quotes produced with AI against our own records before use. We do not invent statistics, testimonials or beneficiary stories.
- Honesty. We tell you when AI has helped create content or answers where this matters, for example in a chatbot, a translation or generated images. We do not use AI to create images of real people or projects and present them as real photographs.
- Fairness. We review AI-assisted text for bias and for wording that is disrespectful or leaves people out.
- Decisions about people. AI is never the only basis for decisions about scholarship awards, volunteer selection or funding.

Review
The Board reviews this policy at least once a year, and when we start using a significant new tool.
